From the smallest shelters to global humane societies, Adopt-a-Senior-Pet Month is in full swing with adoption fairs, fund-raisers and a slew of fun events.

It is impossible to tell you about everything but the ASPCA’s Free Over Three program in New York City caught our eye.

It’s a great, budget-friendly way to bring a little love into your life.  Adopt a shelter cat 3 years, or older, for free. Spaying/neutering, vaccines, microchipping and a pet carrier are included. The ASPCA will also give you a certificate for free followup vet care within 14 days.

Perhaps there is something to be said for the cliche “the best things in life are free.”

Below is a list a selected links to various resources and events about senior adoption.

Editor’s Note: This list is not meant to be comprehensive, so we welcome additions and comments about local and national events during Adopt-a-Senior-Pet Month.

We would also love to hear your senior cat adoption stories. Ping us and let the world know that old cats are the best cats.
